Your Gmail account is for you to access your YouTube channel. To be ready to personalize your YouTube channel, you will need to make a YouTube brand account. .
Open YouTube. In the top right hand corner, check if you are logged in. if you are, proceed to the next step. If not, sign in using Gmail id and password. Click on your account module. Then click on “my Channel”. Do not fill up the blanks already. See below and click on “Use as a business or other name”. A new box appears, type your brand account name (you can edit it later). Tap “create”.

To do so click “customize channel”. For channel icon, click on the default blue display picture. Browse through your gallery and upload a suitable picture.
